Bentley is home.
Thank goodness. Bentley’s owner got in touch with us finally. He was out of the country, and had cancelled his data plan while traveling, hence why I couldn’t get in touch with him.
Bullyproject.org worked hard to track him down and used their resources (far superior to mine) to get in touch with his sister, who then got the message to the owner.
The rescue group spoke to Bentley’s owner quite...

findthesunnyside asked: I waited a long time to adopt a dog of my own, because I never felt I was in a stable enough place - emotionally/financially/etc. Then one day, in the middle of a very tough year, I just did it. To my eternal surprise, turns out having a dog is exactly what I needed to create the stability and structure we both needed. The chicken and egg were one and the same, who knew? But my real point is,...

allisonfoley asked: Did you find the dog's owner? I would swear I know that dog from prospect park...
waldtochter asked: What kind of dog is Bentley? He's super adorable.
semperidem asked: I wish I could help you with Bentley, but I'm about to move and can't take on a lil' buddy. BUT, I thought I'd suggest this very excellent rescue operation that operates out of Jersey City, called See Spot Rescued (they have a Facebook, it's the first item when you google). Super nice people, and seemingly very adept at getting dogs into good houses. Good luck.
scatteredpants asked: Hi Gant, great story about the dog you found. Well done!! I do a lot of rescue work (I have 3 dogs with me in Williamsburg) and just FYI, if he goes into the shelter system he will be put down within days. And honestly, any type of home life you could give him would be a better home than living in a shelter and/or dying. Dogs expectations are not as high as our own so he would figure out a way...

mandypalacio asked: Thanks for saving this beautiful pup. What a beauty! Badass Brooklyn Animal Rescue would be able to help you find a forever home for Bentley. I foster dogs for them, and they have a lot of integrity and care. Good luck and hollar if you need any help.
jenawithonen asked: Call the police, it's illegal to abandon an animal. If they're listed as the owners, they're responsible for it.
erinhollyfenton asked: I saw your post about Bentley when a friend reblogged it. If you can't find him a home yourself, you might want to try BARC, a great no kill shelter in Brooklyn. Good luck!
