A more refined study for Ashen’s New House. This is really where I want to take stuff. Now it’s a matter of color work, mostly to better distinguish the people. That brown isn’t working, Ashen and the Mason feel too much a part of the background and I need them to shift more to the foreground. They needed to simplify and flatten out, and now they just need to pop more. Maybe that means flattening them even more, or maybe it just means I don’t get to have quite as much fun with the backgrounds. Probably the latter. I love painting pictures of tropical jungle.
